At Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church of Akron we are looking for a very part time Director of Christian Nurture for Children and Youth.  We have only half a dozen on a good day, and some days only one or two; but we value each one, and want to undergird their connection with our church and with their faith, and grow their numbers if possible.

The position involves only 8 hours per week, in the beginning — though with ability to grow if there is opportunity.  Time involved is Sunday morning through mid afternoon, plus some daytime weekday  office/planning time to be arranged.  Remuneration is $150 per week, plus commuting and event mileage @ IRS rate — payable semi-monthly. The pastor is immediate supervisor and collaborator.

Tasks will include teaching and/or coordinating Sunday School, sharing in Time for Young Christians during worship, assisting pastor with Confirmation class when held, directing/staffing VBS if feasible, planning and heading up special events, and leading young people who volunteer for our monthly community dinner on Sunday afternoon — plus other miscellaneous related tasks.  Eleven months per year.  All negotiable. Printed job description available by request.

The person we choose should have some education background — in church or school; rapport with children/youth; and be affirming of the PC(USA) and its faith-stance.  Past experience is a plus.
